![]() ![]() These engines were initially used on the "Condor" express freight services but the class's Crossley engines quickly proved problematic. Awdry thought "BoCo" sounded more affectionate. BoCo's name is derived from his Co-Bo wheel arrangement, though reversed as the Rev. Diesel 5701 is also based on this engine. After D5701 was scrapped, he taught BoCo that there are things in life the Metrovicks couldn't control but the things they could with what was given to them, stating that in a perfect world, people would help them, rather than cast them aside, but one day, someone may arrive and overlook their engine problems and focus on what's really important: their determination.īoCo is based on a British Rail (BR) Class 28 Co-Bo diesel-electric engine. Vicker survived by a historical accident and currently works on the East Lancashire Railway. His class had a few teething problems and all of the members were scrapped from 1967 to 1969. Vicker was built in 1958 at Bowesfield Works in Manchester, England.
